My relationship with China, my native country, has always been hard to define. I left at one year old and have no memories of it. But recently, I’ve felt a growing need to reconnect.
On my third trip, I visited my home province of Hubei and my hometown, Huangshi — places I might have known had I grown up there. It reminded me that I’m neither fully Chinese nor fully French, but somewhere in between.
